Hello Everyone! My husband and I are planning to move to DE from PA asap as my husband is accepting a job offer in New Castle County. We have been doing some research on southern New Castle County and northern Kent County as we have heard good things about those areas. Is one county better than the other? We are looking for an affordable house in a good school district and a safe neighborhood. Any suggestions on towns to look at or even ones to stay away from would be very helpful! Thanks!

Eastcoastmama - I recommend Middletown. It's got a tremendous school system. I know quite a few people who live there that love it. Remember to always check the sex offender registry before putting an offer on any home!

Personally, we prefer Kent. My hubby works in NY, but the kids and I just moved to DE from central NC so this area is just right up our alley. Depends on what you're looking for; DE is quite unique in that the northern county is more metropolitan, the southern county is quite rural, and the central county is a good mix of both.

We do like our school district, which is Caesar Rodney SD. But I am quickly hearing lots of good things about many more districts throughout the state. If our first 4 months here are any indication, we won't be calling u-haul anytime soon! I'm so confident in that, I'm putting a lot of flattened boxes out for recycling every week. Or at least the weeks the wind isn't going to blow the boxes to MD!

we'll be moving from Calif to Delaware, we are torn between rural and metropolitan we like both. We do want at least 1/2 an acre. Hubby will be working in New Castle. I guess it will be easier once we sell here and we both go out there together and do our house hunting.
