Hi, I am also interested in Delaware and golf communities. I have been searching posts but found nothing about any community. I want non-age restricted, 2 BR, 2Bath around 2000 sq ft. Near beach is great. I am semi-retired and work part time.
Some posts say that age restricted communities are pricier. Would that be because you are also paying for a clubhouse, pool, tennis courts, and other desirable ammenities? Thanks in advance for info.

Paula, you didn't mention a price range you're looking for. Kings Creek Golf & Country Club, and Rehoboth Beach Yacht & Country Club are two golf (non age restricted) communities close to the beach, $350,000+. 2 bedroom homes in golf communities are hard to find. There are plenty of other homes for sale in the Rehoboth-Lewes area close to golf courses and the beach, in non-age restricted communities, with amenities such as clubhouse, tennis, pool, and even bus transportation to the beach. There are some bargains there now. Age Restricted communities draw is not only those amenities above, but the built in social network for those wanting to live only around other retirees. Age restricted communities attract a different market, and those two types of communities are not comparable.

Thanks rdlr, I'll look up those communities. I am looking in the 350,000 price range. I live in an area in NJ that is heavily built up with big and beautiful age restricted communities by Centex, Toll Bros, Lennar, etc. but did not want to go that age restricted route. I was hoping to get enthusiastic replies like "I live in xxx and I absolutely LOVE it here!"

What you have described also includes Bear Trap in Ocean View. On a championship golf course and 20 minutes to Bethany Beach. I don't live there but it appears quite nice. Good luck.
