Oh oh oh........"The Complete Works of Saki"
I'm thrilled to see that one listed. H.H. Munro (AKA: Saki) was such a clever fellow. I love his stories and will be very happy to read them again.

Thank you, MP1. Have a great weekend.

Ms K, why do I always feel compelled to download books when you oh oh oh and yippee them? My Kindle is starting to look like me after Thanksgiving dinner.

Ketabcha and Pina, you're welcome - and I hope you both have a wonderful weekend!

What a nice compliment, MP1. Thank you.

I think you will enjoy Saki. His tales are a combination of humor, irony and a wee bit of angst.
I compare his writing to that of O'Henry. I am not usually a fan of short stories but make an exception for Saki and O'Henry. They both are "everyman" in my way of thinking and they were both extremely talented writers who never fail to amaze me.

It took me a very long time to finally buy a kindle. Thanks to a fellow C-D member I bought the first one. She and her hubby walked me through the in's and out's of using the kindle during a long-distance phone call to Canada.

Both of my parents were voracious readers and as a result, so am I. That is one of the greatest gifts they gave me.

I think I was too young when I read Saki - some of his stories horrified me, and they still make me queasy in hindsight. Wasn't there one about a rat forced to eat itself? I'm too scared of those memories to try him again.

But Kidnapped, yay!

It's a well deserved compliment and you're welcome. The book has great reviews on Amazon and I was surprised to see when it was written and comments that it sounded so contemporary. I look forward to reading it, so thank YOU for the post or I wouldn't have taken a look.

My parents always had books in their faces, too. I was the kid who would stay up until I was exhausted with a flashlight under the covers just so I could keep reading. I agree that the love of reading is truly a gift. I wish I had more time to read, but I guess it can wait a few more years when life slows down a bit.
