Ahhhhh. The Prophet by Kahlil Gibran. What a wondrous book. I was give a copy as a high school graduation gift. I still have it. Gibran was a Lebanese-American and Maronite Catholic. Quite an interesting fellow and gifted poet/writer.

Thank you, MP1. It's been pouring down rain here for a couple of days and we are so grateful for it.

How funny, because I was given a copy of The Prophet in high school and I still have mine, as well. True story.

Do you remember The Desiderata? For a while everyone had a poster of that. Go placidly amid the noise and haste and remember what peace there may be in silence. That's all I remember.

You're welcome for the list. The rain you'll have to thank someone else for. It isn't in my job description here.

I do remember The Desiderata. When I think of it I see footsteps in the sand. That must have been on the poster.

And what about Kipling's "If"? Great poem.

Speaking of Kipling, my father was a fan and thus I am, too. I remember asking him to read "Rikki Tikki Tavi" over and over. I love that mongoose.
Dad flew The Hump (also known as CBI) during WWII. China-Burma-India. He spent time in India. He had some stories to tell. Cobras on the golf course with no Rikki to be seen.

I only remember footsteps on a poster called Footsteps in the Sand, which came out much later. The Desiderata poster I'm picturing had an old type of font on it.

What great memories of your dad, Ketabcha. I'm sure he cherished them as much as you did. LOL on the 'with no Rikki to be seen'!

It's funny how I have memories of books I read as a child but couldn't tell you what I read last year.
