Pro and Con ? Housing value, jobs, people, schools, communities, taxes, weather...etc.
One can expand to close by cities such Richardson, Plano, Frisco, McKinney,Rockwall Vs Chandler, Tempe, Avondale, Goodyear, Litchfield Park.
If you have to move in the near future...What city you are likely to go for and WHY ?

Property values are still headed south in PHX metro. Home values in the DFW metro are stabilizing and even increasing slightly in some areas.

Its really apples and oranges.

Both cities are heavily populated by transplants. Over 50% of Dallas residents were born in another state. Over 20% were born in another country (ie. Mexico, El Salvador, or Honduras).

From a city or MSA standpoint DFW or Dallas proper are more international and more diverse than Phoenix and Metro Phoenix.

Phoenix is alot prettier in my opinion and its alot easier to find things to do outdoors there.

The economy is alot better in Dallas as is the housing market.

Maybe I have missed it but Phoenix does not have much of a downtown nor some of the urban centers Dallas has such as Knox-Henderson, Uptown, Cedar Springs/Turtle Creek, West Village, Mockingbird Station/SMU, Lower Greenville, Lakewood, Deep Ellum/Expo Park, Bishop Arts District, Cedars/Southside, Design District etc. Everything seemed so sprawled, even in the older parts of Phoenix. I don't remember seeing any light rail in Phoenix. Dallas will have about 100 miles of light rail in the next few years plus the already established commuter rail line to Fort Worth. And there is a streetcar system being planned which could be established in less than five years. Also Dallas has Fair Park, a world heritage site - the largest collection of 1930s Art Deco Exhibition buildings in the world and the site of the USA's largest state fair.

There enlies the question...With all things considered-based on my research, the opinions of residents of both states, etc.-they're tied. It's almost impossible to choose between the two. Well, I must add: Although both cities have warm climates, I hear Phoenix is more unbearable than Dallas at its highest temps, since Dallas is central in the State of Texas, therefore not right off the gulf/a little cooler. If it weren't for Florida's hurricane climate, I would probably go with the State of Florida.
