Hi :

I am planning to buy drapery for my house. Someone recently told me that there are city rules about what color lining the drapery should have? Like for some cities it should only be white. Is there any such rule in Dallas? I stay in castle hills in lewisville. Any input in this regard will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Saumya

Saumya,
I think you were punked by whomever told you about this silly rule.

As long as you are hanging the drapery inside the house and not outside, you can pick any color you want.

Even the HOA of Castle Hills doesn't have such rule.

That would not be a city ordinance. There ARE some HOA's that do have restrictions on this. You can check it out in your bylaws and CC&R's.

I can tell you that you DO want to line your draperies. If you don't they will be faded in less than a year.

Our HOA has a rule that window treatments facing the exterior ave to be white. I would presume that means having white shades or blinds... or white liners in the curtains.

I don't think it is city code/rules. You can make a lawsuit to against your city for invading your privacy and personal interest and freedom. . Also, too many city codes during this tough economic time will make citizen's life more horrible.

It might be requirement from your community HOA. If your house belongs to HOA, make sure to check with them. Tell them you will be going to move to a farm to live with freedom without personal harassment from HOA rules/code. LOL!
