I've lived in Fort Worth for almost a year. Some family members will visit me later this month and asked me to come up with a list of activities (things to do) while they're here. They'll visit me for 2 full days. I'm thinking of showing them around FW on the first day and then take them to Dallas the second day (I've only been there a few times). What activities would you recommend?

I'm also asking for advice in the Fort Worth sub-forum, but I'm much more familiar with that city, since I live there, than Dallas. Note that my family members and I are all young adults (20s and 30s), so I don't have to worry about entertaining kids or the elderly. I've also Googled "Dallas" to see what hits I'd get, but I prefer human recommendations here.

TIA.

Definitely take them to the Nasher Sculpture Garden - only takes about an hour, but it's pretty cool. Good cafe too.

There's the Arboretum if they're interested in looking at flowers. We enjoyed it. There's the Dallas Zoo, but I've heard that the Ft Worth Zoo is better. (I haven't been to either, so I don't have an opinion, and I don't know what criteria was used to define 'better', so consider yourself warned.) The Nasher exhibits would be a good choice. I'm sure others can offer more choices.

Go to D Magazine's website and on the left, click on current issue of D Magazine. There's an article called "48 Cool Things To Do This Summer"

If they are into architecture, they will love Fair Park, the largest collection of Art Deco exhibition buildings in the world. The Hall of State and its museum are impressive - it was the most expensive building per square foot ever built in Texas. http://www.hallofstate.com/ It is also the site of the largest annual State Fair in the world.

There are also home tours of Munger Place http://www.mungerplace.com/ this weekend, Swiss Ave http://www.sahd.org the next and MStreets http://www.mstreets.org/ the following weekend.

I would also suggest Dealy Plaza/Kennedy Museum and Victory Park.

Ok, maybe the is the materialistic side coming out, but what about shopping? Dallas and surrounding areas has some great malls. What about the Galleria or someplace like that?

Did anyone mention Reunion Tower?

Thank "y'all" (I'm still learning that) for your input. Since we're on limited time coming from FW, we'd like to minimize the amount of driving once we get to Dallas. So while I'd really like to check out those surrounding towns many of you mentioned, we probably won't be able to do that. Shopping is also out. :P

A friend told me that if I park near where the State Fair of TX is held everywhere, there are many things to do in that area. I'll check out the links and do Google searches of some things you suggested and will compile a list to present to my family members to get their input.

Thanks again.

That does limit you to just doing stuff in Fair Park, which is fine, but you will be a substantial distance from other, funner, newer things in Dallas.
