I visited Lake Kiowa this weekend and it seemed like a nice place. Does anyone have any information about it-pros, cons. Thanks.

my husband works with someone who has house in Colleyville and has had land up at lake kiowa for several years--they either bought and were re=doing a house or were building a house up there to use as sort of retirement home

it is a private lake with HOA that is pretty strong--they have a web site--
don't know about the fishing/water sports there -- and don't know about the constant level of the water either but is is reachable fairly quickly depending on where you are coming from
the idea that it is a private lake means that it is not open to casual boat traffic which would be positive factor
the idea that there is strong HOA would be great as well unless you ran afoul of it or rules became oppressive--
home values from MLS seems to be holding their value pretty well especially for water front property
the houses set back from lake front show distinct reduction in price but you are still able to use the lake if you own property there

Thanks for the information, it confirms what I thought-I'll keep investigating the area.

I think that is the closest private lake to Dallas probably

I know that in the New Braunfels area part of the river has been closed at Lake McQueeney area so that there is no private boat launch which people used to use--the land was bought and is being turned into private home site or club or something--so the houses in that area are going up in value just because there will be less public access...

some private lakes in TX are not well maintained and have frankly pretty low building standards--
Lake Kiowa seems to have pretty high building standards and don't think that many homes went into foreclosure from what I have seen on line -- but I am not expert--just follow the RE market somewhat
