We are moving back home to Texas after being gone for a few years. I have the flexibility to move anywhere I want and my number one priority is my son. He is very high functioning and will be in the 10th grade this fall. He is not on grade level nor is he mature enough to attend regular classes so he ends up in a special needs classroom for all subjects. We have some key points for the school that's right for him:

offers speech therapy multiple times a week
participates in Special Olympics
will educate him on academics (not just vocational training)

I am open to living anywhere from Coppell to Addison to Richardson to as far North as Denton or McKinney. Will consider other areas if the high school has a great program. Any suggestions?

Thanks for the help!!

Try Northwest ISD, I know a few kids in there. I m sure there are other but this is where my son goes. He is 7, and starting next year he will have more help for his needs.

Plano ISD has a reputation for being good for autistic kids. I personally only know of one family who was in Plano ISD - Plano West Sr. High - and they were very happy with it and they had been through a couple of special needs private schools. Otherwise, it's just been word of mouth that Plano ISD was a good place for special needs kids.
