I will be relocating to the Dallas area at the end of the summer. I would like to know what areas of the metroplex I should consider moving to given that I would like to be close to jogging/running/biking trails. I do a lot of marathon training so I am looking for places where I might find a variety of trails. Thanks!

There are a couple of parks out in Mckinney (Erwin is one) where I see people do alot of Mountain Biking. Also in Mckinney is Stonebridge Ranch, which is a huge side-walked subdivision. When I drive through I always see a dozen or so people jogging. It's also very hilly out there, which is something hard to find in most areas around the Metroplex.

The areas in Plano where the high voltage power lines run and along the creeks, are greenspaces with biking and jogging trails.

The Lakewood area near White Rock Lake would probably be a good place for you to look for housing.

You might also want to do a web search for running/bicycling clubs in the Dallas area and then contacting one of them for areas.

In Frisco, there's a velodrome that might interest you http://www.superdrome.com/

There is a large bike trail in Richardson w/ several parking areas at the heads to many of the trails that wind thru it. It is located just east of 75-Central on Renner Rd. Then on the Garland/Rowlett border there is another great bike trail that is not your typical cement sidewalk trail. The trailhead is located off of Centerville Rd between Hwy 66 and Firewheel Parkway. It is PACKED on nice days. There are many other trails in the area that are out there.

Ask your realtor about properties along the Katy Trail.
There is also a nice paved trail system out on Parker Rd/Midway called the Arbor Hills Nature Preserve.
