Hi, I need some help. My family is relocating to Dallas from the East coast in December. My husband's office will be off of North Central Expressway in downtown Dallas. With traffic we do not want the commute to be more than 25 minutes. Where is the best place to buy a house? In Dallas, Plano, or Richardson. We have a baby girl and heard Richardson schools are excellent.

What are some good neighborhoods? Thanks!

Off of N. Central IN Downtown Dallas? Can you be a bit more specific, that sounds a little odd. Also what is your price range?

If you got serious money, just north of Downtown Dallas. If you got a little less, a little north and east of Downtown has some nice areas or keep going north along Central Expressway to Richardson or Plano. As long as you stay along Central Expressway, your husband can hop on the Dart rail and get to Downtown in 30 minutes.

You will have to be careful about where you live in Richardson or Plano (also has good schools) because not all of Richardson is in the Richardson ISD (Independent School District). Your realtor should be able to help you look for houses in Richardson ISD or Plano ISD.

A Plano/downtown commute would be longer than 25 minutes. That's probably true for a Richardson/downtown commute also. For 25 minutes you need to stay inside the 635 loop. I live in the city of Dallas, north of 635 (Richardson schools) and I rarely if ever can make the commute in 25 minutes during regular rush hours. The North Dallas Tollway is a lot faster than Central Expressway however.

I think I replied to your last post, but I think the Lake Highlands area would be a great fit for you. It's in Dallas proper, but in Richardson schools, and about 15 minutes from your husband's work. Make sure you look in attendance zones for Moss Haven, Wallace, Lake Highlands, White Rock, or Merriman Park elementaries. They are all excellent elementary schools.
