Not open on Sundays? Hubby is back out in Dallas and needs to find a car rather than renting for the next 5 mos. He went looking around yesterday. The places he went to weren't open - on a Sunday. Made it nice tho, he could look around w/out being bothered, but is this the norm? The dealerships here were having super bowl sales, lol.

Yes, that is the norm. Goes back to the days of our old Texas Blue Laws. They were repelled in the 80's but w/ some strings still attached, mainly just for car dealers. If they are going to be open on Sunday they have to close on Saturday. So yes, it does make it nice to go walk around and look w/o having to deal w/ the salesmen.

Be prepared for the whole wet/dry issue. This meaning that there are areas in Texas where alcohol is not sold. It is based on judicial lines not city or county limit lines. Right now there is a big research going on for one part of Dallas county that involves Dallas and Richardson and they are trying to find a map from the 1800's or early 1900's to see what the lines were then when the whole dry "no alcohol sales allowed" was first put into place in that area. Being a native it never has been a big deal to me but more and more places are voting to allow beer/wine sales (in the grocery/c-stores) and it is kind of nice to be able to pick up your beer and wine the same time your buying groceries. I always newbies/transplants to the area at the store. They were the ones wandering around frantically searching for, I'd always stop and ask them and sure enough they were looking for beer or wine. Then I'd just give them directions to the nearest place to purchase such.
