Which of these areas has the most diverse population? (or any other area south of 635)
Including ethnicities, sexual orientation, religious preferences, etc ...

Highland Park,
University Park,
Preston Hollow,
Bluffview,
Briarwood,
Devonshire,
Lakewood.

Being from the Northeast and CA, we have found that there is some diversity in the northern and western suburbs, and around Uptown, but not having lived in these areas it's hard to tell from just driving around. We are still searching for a neighborhood and it is important for us that our children (and us too) live in an area where we will meet and make friends from different backgrounds...

What do you think?

Thanks for the info!

Where do you live now in Dallas? From your previous posts and your budget (you stated 500k-700k), HP/UP are out, and they are the least diverse. Preston Hollow and Bluffview can be expensive as well. Lakewood would fit the above. You'll also want to look at commute times.

My neighborhood, north of Preston Hollow and south of the 635 off of Preston has nice homes $500k-$700k. Lots of Orthodx Jews and African Americans in addition to those who don't count under the "diversity" label. Josh Howard who plays for the Mavericks lives in my neighborhood for what that's worth.

Out of that list, Lakewood would be the most diverse.

Highland Park and University Park would be the opposite of that.

I would say Lakewood would be the most diverse out of what you listed.

For your price range it would be Lakewood by a mile. Firewheel in Garland would also be on my list

From your list, definitely Lakewood. Are those neighborhoods the most impt. or is diversity most impt? In other words, there are more diverse neighborhoods.

Thanks,
T Hayley

Yep. As the other posters said, Lakewood is your best bet of the areas you listed.

Lakewood's diverse? I love our new neighborhood, but as my husband likes to say - "we have diversity...we have all different kinds of white people!" Maybe it's more diverse than HP/UP, but that's a pretty low standard to beat.

I found the diversity factor in Richardson and Lake Highlands to be much better...

Plano/Richardson is probably the most diverse of cultures and languages, but it wasn't on the list.
