I am posting to let any Murphy, Parker or even Sacshe residents know that there is a proposed new sewage plant and municipal utility district. It will be just West of Murphy/Hogge Rd north of the Murphy/Parker boundary in the Parker ETJ.

The story is that, except far north Parker, Parker has no sewage system so everyone is on septic. By either state or county law, you must have one acre to have a septic system. The owner of this land for years has been trying to find a way to build tract homes. Their current approach is to form a MUD and build their own plant. The wastewater will run down Maxwell Creek and then Muddy Creek through Parker, Murphy, and Sachse till it goes into Lake Ray Hubbard (Dallas' water supply). There are parks, cemetaries, homes and schools next to Maxwell Creek.

Another issue is that the nearby Treatment Plant in East Plano often smells horrible for quite a distance. I expect this one will be the same. Obviously, the existing home owners will have to put up with that and lose property value.

Comments on the sewage plant permits (please stick to environmental/health issue) can be submitted to the state at https://www14.tceq.texas.gov/epic/eComment. The ID number is WQ0016003001.

I will be happy to answer any questions. The group opposing this is on Facebook. The group name is "Parker Extraterritorial Jurisdiction MUD - Information Group".

There are hundreds, possibly thousands, of MUDs around Houston that all have their own small wastewater treatment facilities. They do not produce a smell. How would this developer sell these "tract homes" if this plant was an issue?

It's also pretty funny that you think Lake Ray Hubbard isn't already filled with treated wastewater.

East Plano's treatment plant smells horrible and that's a huge one that I would think is better ran than a tiny MUD one.

We have a lake house north of town. Every home has an individual aerobic sewage system. Excepting a neighbor's that failed a couple of years go - there is no odor at all.
