If your budget is limiting your options, it may be time to look for another remote job with higher pay. There are plenty of remote jobs out there. Last month, my co-worker resigned to take a remote position. He lives in Dallas, but he works for a tech company in California. He got a raise.

Possibly. My main complaint with Arlington was that most of it seemed run down and traffic was pretty bad.

Overall I like the look of Euless much better than Arlington. I'm an avid cyclist and I found it impossible to bike in Arlington because I lived near busy intersections like Pioneer Pkwy, Arkansas Ln, and Cooper St.

In the Bear Creek area of Euless, the trail system and the low traffic roads like Bear Creek Pkwy are prime for bike riding. And overall the traffic in Euless seems better than Arlington. Aesthetically, Euless looks nicer than Arlington. It seems to have a lot more greenery. Being near DFW is definitely a perk since I fly about once a month.

Right now I'm living in a luxury apartment in Fort Worth that costs $2000/mo. It's nice but I just don't need all of this stuff. Valet trash, electronic door locks, dog park (we don't even own a dog), package lockers, etc. The build quality is terrible and I can hear all of my neighbors. These luxury apartments are a total scam. I'll live in place that's $300 cheaper per month and doesn't have these unnecessary amenities and put that $300 in a savings account towards a down payment for a house.

You could live right next to North Lake in some of the apartments there and walk to work or ride your bike.
Save money on gas and wear and tear on your car or even have just one car.
The nicer apartments are more or less in 4 clusters...right there by the college, what I call downtown Las Colinas, Valley Ranch about 4 miles north of the college and a few in Coppell. You might look at some of the newer ones in Farmers Branch along the rail line or downtown Carrollton.

Of course if you like Euless or Bedford those are not bad places to live too.

Every apartment should have bad reviews. There's always something....bad manager, bad maintenance, noise, bad neighbors, etc. No one seems to love where they live and leave glowing reviews. If you see those, they're probably fake.

You may be intentionally exaggerating a bit but nonetheless it's not true.

Looking at my former stomping grounds of Addison/Far North Dallas, there are a number of solid 1BRs apartments in the $1400-1600 range. You'd be a reasonable commute to Las Colinas and not too far from some bike trails due east.

This is a good example of what I mean. I'm looking for a 2br in the $1600-1700 range.

There are many in the $1300-1400 range, but they are sketchy looking and have terrible reviews about bed bugs, roaches, and crime. There are also a bunch that are over $2000/mo. I haven't found many in my price range.

It's a shame that DFW doesn't have many small, non-corporate landlords. Rent is usually cheaper and there are no gimmicky amenities and fees that cost $100/mo.

There is a 2-bedroom available in September at Saddlebrook Apartments in Far North Dallas. The price is $1650-1840.

https://www.saddlebrookapts.com/

I lived in a townhome style apartment. No worries about people stomping their feet. My vehicle was parked in my personal garage. It's mostly working professionals. I didn't have any complaints about parties. It was an easy trip to the airport, Legacy West, and Las Colinas.

It was about 20-22 minutes to Las Colinas.

You would be better off living in Las Colinas, Coppell, or Farmers Branch for a shorter commute for gf. There are many apartments in that $1500-1800 range.

Thanks! Those look great! I'm looking for a townhome style apartment.

How would the commute be from Euless to Las Colinas? It looks like it's 10mi and should take around 20min with traffic. From the Bear Creek area, I think you'll hop on Airport Dr, then hop on PGBT for a few miles.

I don't know why you bother coming on here asking for advice where no one is recommending Euless, but you keep mentioning it.

No need to be snarky. I'm just wondering why people are recommending places that are actually further away than Euless. The reason I mention Euless is because I know someone who owns a home there and really likes it and it's not too far from Las Colinas.

Someone recommended Saddle Brook apartments (which look really nice, by the way) but they are 15mi from the area where my SO will be working in Las Colinas. The Bear Creek area is only 10mi away, so won't Saddle Brook be a longer commute? Am I missing something?

I suppose since I'm posting on the Dallas forum, people are going to recommend places on the Dallas side and since Euless is in Tarrant, it's more closely linked up with Fort Worth.

you can also look on www.apartments.com and start with Irving and check your search type for house, condo or townhouse — and don’t check apartments — and just see what pops up. You’ll get results to include other areas not in Irving but close. Then take a drive around the areas that interest you.

I like the Bear Creek area of Euless. As a Landlord, I own a property in that area and people just love it there because of the linear park trails, general upkeep of the area and low crime rate. Whenever my townhouse there has a vacancy, its filled within days. And my tenants usually leave because they are buying a house in Bear Creek/Euless.
