Will first be in FortWorth, then later Dallas and eventually McKinney and Plano.

I'm open to anything but Asian foods (no offense to anyone) but mainly wanted something original. American food is fine too but I have a feeling that it's going to be restricted to chains. Avoiding chains unless you really feel it's worth mentioning so to speak.

Doesnt matter if it's in FortWorth or Dallas or the suburbs.

I'm not sure what you mean re: american dining. Are you under the impression that the only american dining DFW has to offer is chains?

Casa Mia along SRTollroad in Lewisville. El Salvadorian food. It's great. Big menu with El Salvadorian items and texmex. Not a chain and is highly recommended and rated by yelp and wife and I.

McKinney: has lots wonderful restaurants in their historic downtown. Something for everyone ‘s tastes, not chains. We’re new here so have only sampled a few but can recommend-
Harvest Seasonal Kitchen
Local Yocal BBQ and Grill
Hutchins BBQ

Lots to choose from in downtown McKinney!

I havent really had much time to look around there besides Downtown FortWorth as I normally am only passing through DFW when I go there. It's nothing against DFW, I just wasnt really expecting alot in terms of original American food outside of chains. I know they have a large Asian population so I was expecting more original Asian food and Mexican food if that makes sense.

Will look into this. SRTollRoad is Sam Rayburn right?

DFW has a very, very good food scene. Sure, the suburbs have a lot of chains (what suburb in the US doesn't?), but Dallas proper is not a chain-heavy area. It has a plethora of dining options across the spectrum. And, although american fare isn't always my thing when recommending a restaurant, there are numerous American fare restaurants in Dallas proper that are not chains.

Traditional American dinning is only available at Native American (Indian) reservations. Everything else is a gift from another part of the world. For us, if it’s cooked on American soil, it’s American dinning, no matter its Dutch or Korean or Brazilian.

In Texas, Tex-Mex is the closest thing to a local concoction.

Mama's Daughter's Diner is a Dallas tradition for home cooking and casual dining. There are locations in Dallas (near downtown), Plano, Irving and Lewisville. https://www.mamasdaughtersdiner.com/ If you leave here hungry, it's your own fault.
