Expanding makes sense for NTTA but all that traffic would seriously mess up commute times.

According to Wikipedia, there are plans to extend it all the way up to US Route 82 by the mid-2030s. It would probably have to connect somehow into 75 because it would have to cross Lake Texoma.
It wouldn't cross Lake Texoma to get to US 82. That's still well on the Texas side.

I doubt it will cross texoma too. I think the route follows the current pattern of heading north along and parallel to Preston Road. Preston Road or the SH it is intersect US82 maybe 5 miles west of US75. I believe the plan is to swing it to US75 some where along the maybe 10 miles between where US 82 intersect 75 and the red river likely to cross into Oklahoma where 75 does now which is just east of the damn for Lake Texoma.

To me the huge issue with his idea is will Oklahoma be ready for it? One can find a route and concepts on the Texas side of things but no such plan can be found for Oklahoma. They will react late and do less than needed to get by given their past practices.

Here is the study area and prelim route. It would cut back east just north of 82 and connect in with 75 just south of the OK border.

That would be a costly trip from Pottsboro to DT Dallas

That's super interesting, thanks for that.

Are they actually planning on changing the name of the part in Grayson County to Grayson County Tollway, or is that just a planning name?

Expanding the Dallas North Tollway is a sign of poor growth planning. The growth in the northern parts of the urban area should be abated. I would rather see infill growth, growth south of Downtown Dallas, or growth in the eastern suburbs like Forney. However, in general, the growth in the Metroplex has been too fast for my taste. Some growth is good. I would not want to be in a place like Wilkes-Barre, PA, a city which has seen its population cut in half since the end of WWII, but the growth rates in Texas and Arizona (where I previously lived) have been much too fast and done in a way that is not environmentally sustainable.

I personally love how much future planning they do here. Although I agree with the above poster that it would be nice to see some good stuff happen to Downtown Dallas and southern DFW aswell. I also didn't know that Oklahoma now has a county that belongs within the DFW CSA, thats pretty insane.
