Austin College has a long history getting a nice percentage of students into medical schools. TCU as well.

Really? You're not confusing it with Austin Community College, are you?

There are not a ton of other high paying professional paths where it won't matter a bit where you went to undergrad, or I should say, where you can be assured that it won't matter.
Is Baylor really that "prestigious" compared with UTD though?

$160K for Rice or Harvard might be worthwhile, but it is a hard sale for Baylor.

Baylor the brand at large, I'd agree with you to an extent. Baylor as a place that's often 1/2, 1/3, 1/4, or 0/0 list price for well qualifieds looking at medicine it's a grand slam home run. Baylor has merit money that UTD and Rice don't.

I'd describe AC as more small school - liberal arts - semi-rural/small town. It does not, sorry did not, feel like a CC to me at all.

I would say to major in something that he wants to major in so if he likes neuroscience then so be it but not just because he thinks its what the medical school admission committees want him to major because like you said, if for what ever reason he changes his mind then hes not stuck with a life sciences degree that is wasted..... my wife's younger brother was all on the pre-med band wagon at the start of college then midway through college had the realization that the idea of being a doctor sucked so had to change majors so wasted 2 years of tuition

Last year's Plano East graduating class was larger than the whole enrollment at Austin college IIRC

Update:

Son did not get into the Honors program in UTD. So he is considering Baylor now as he got into their Honors program.

Does Baylor has any affiliation with the Baylor College of Medicine? Does he have an edge to get into Baylor College of Medicine if he goes to Baylor ?

Any insights into the Honors program in UTD and/or Baylor?

And should that even be a deciding factor?
