The deep-dish pizza PIE (it really is a pie then)... is what generally is called Chicago-style. But in neighborhoods, the REAL Chicago and Midwest style pizza is THIN-CRISPY crust pizza cut into smaller party-sized squares. Large triangles is not. I like all kinds. You can't get real deep-dish period by me. Most is NYC varieties with wimpy-crust cut into large triangles that the point wimps downward when picked up.

One place I can request it done crispy-crust and whatever difference they do to it .... it works. But they never advertise it can be done that way. Really, most Chicago locals .... only on occasion in might do a deep-dish. Thin-crispy rules there and much of the upper Midwest.

Still if you visit that city .... you might want to do a authentic deep-dish. To say you did and it is more unique. Best pizza I had and when living in Chicago was still its neighborhood thin-varieties near where I lived and best minestrone soup was there and is a common appetizer. By me in PA its Italian wedding soup if authentic is good for one.

All though this thread. NY-style and Chi-style were mentioned. So my post is no exception then. But to clarify that common Chicago pizza is thin and crispy.

Not to start a fight but NY style is better.
Hyde Park isn’t really Chicago. ;-)

If you like Geno’s it would be absurd of me to say you don’t or shouldn’t.

The last neighborhood I lived in in Chicago was a pizza desert on the North Side. The best pizza joint in the neighborhood was a Chinese guy named Jimmy making New York style. It was really, really good and my wife, a Philly woman very familiar with New York pizza, said it was the real deal. Ah, America.

I just find it kinda odd that Uptown (and Irving where I currently live) have less Chinese takeout/delivery options than where I grew up in Idaho which is like, maybe 1% Asian.

oh and on the topic of Indian food, I think Irving is among the top, if not the top place in the country for Indian food, it's awesome.
Agreed, on all counts.

I haven’t been yet but there is a Chicago style place in Allen that serves the squared slices. I lived in NYC and let everyone know that Chicago style thin crust bar pizza is better than NY style and deep dish.

Eduardo’s deep dish in Hyde Park was amazing. Not sure if it’s still open.

For best Dallas pizza you should try Louie's on Henderson.

My only lament about my time there.....I was so broke and buried with school I didn't learn much about the city.

Admitting my biases and speaking of Philly, I'd throw most any local pizza in the trash to lay hands on a decent cheesesteak.

It was called Edwardo's and sadly it closed, several years ago I think. I ate there many times as a student. I could survive on a large pizza for several days - couldn't make as much food for so little money.

Edwardo's has closed most of their locations, but there are a handful that are still open. And yes, I loved their pizza.

Leona's make a good thin crust, too. But again, we're all talking Chicago, not Dallas.

I can't say what is the best, but can say I really enjoy the pizza from Two Guys From Italy, on Webb Chapel at Forest ln.

After that, it would be Nizza Pizza, as the crispy thin crust just kills me. Third would be Mama's Pizza. Don't laugh, they are quite good.

Two Guys and Mama's have been around since the 70s and 80s respectively, and for good reason. They are known to the native and long time residents. Recent arrivals probably haven't heard of them, or have overlooked them. I'm only aware of Nizza Pizza in Arlington, and other parts of Tarrant county. Not sure if there are any in Dallas Co.
