OP here... Thanks for all the recommendations, can't wrong with any of them. Well, except for Love & War - they apparently closed last week: Love and War in Texas' Grapevine Location Closes Amidst Plans for New Lindale Venue | Dallas Observer

Bummer about Love & War. That venue was HUGE and it always seemed pretty empty when we visited. Food there was just OK, not great.

Tolberts has live music every night. Food there is also OK, not great. My husband likes it, but I'm not a fan. I'm always happy to promote downtown Grapevine, so I wish it was better!

Hard Eight for sure--you wont get BBQ better than that in the area

I went to Bartley's last year and was VERY underwhelmed.

Esparzas is okay. Agree that the food isn't awesome.

Ditto on Meat U Anywhere over Bartley's. I eat at Bartley's mainly because it's a little closer to my apartment, but Meat U Anywhere has amazing breakfast tacos too.

Also, Hard 8 is good but super crowded most of the time and very smokey inside.

Yes. It's on south Main Street.
Mi Asia is a lovely restaurant, but it isn't really "Texan" at all.
