Can someone tell me if we should add on the following items to our
homeowners insurance policy. As we havent lived in Texas before Im
not sure if it is necessary to have these or not. Im told by the agent
if we dont accept them at the start of the policy they cannot be added
on later. We are closing on our new home @ end of month.

1. Water Damage. (including...leak under the slab, plumbing issues)

2. Dwelling Foundation. (including problems and cracks)

The house we are purchasing is fairly new (less than 5yr)

Thanks for any input on this subject.

Yes... in most cases you want the coverage. If your slab cracks due to settling and breaks the plumbing, you could be out a lot of $ in replacing all of your flooring and breaking up the slab and repouring.

I would still get the insurance, but don't forget that new homes have a 10 year structural warranty. But like I said, I would still get it

I'd probably get that insurance as well. Also, while you're at it, ask the agent about getting a general liability umbrella. It's really cheap, and covers just about anything else.

Your additional insurance premium would be just a small price to pay for peace of mind.

It's like refrigerators... why do they break down one month after the manufacturer's warranty expires?? it's a conspiracy
