Hi All
I need to move out there for work from NY area, so I am flying blind.
I have been looking for a nice area with a commute under 1/2 hour to
Valley View Lane, Dallas area. I've been steered towards Lewisville by
a future colleague.

The house I'm currently interested in is located in Lewisville -- looks near
Highland Village on map somewhat close to Lewisville Lake, I think.
But I am completely unskilled at mapscaling/reading

Mapquest posts the drive as 20 minutes, including 12 minutes on I35
I've read in a few posts that I-35 is a nightmare in the morning.
Doesn't look like there's any alternate routes to avoid I35 either
I am hoping all the nasty delays are in the other direction than my
morning route, or possibly really old posts, or maybe even some great
shortcuts the locals might know about ??? LOL

Don't mind 45 minutes or so, but definitely would not enjoy an hour long
stuck in traffic every day, especially in am.

Any info on the area, commute, or possible alternate routes will be greatly appreciated. This board, and kind contributors have already saved me quite a few headaches, for which I am eternally grateful.

Thanks Thanks Thanks

Might want to look into Carrollton also, it borders Lewisville just to the South and SE. Its a little nicer than Lewisville especially on the North Side that borders Lewisville, just stay away from the Southern part of Carrollton. That borders the Dallas/Farmers Branch area, and is a bit run down. Lewisville is pretty nice, but its a lot of apartments and typically a haven for new college graduates who have moved 15 minutes south from Denton, which is the college town. So that being said theres a lot of apartments and such. Carrollton is more of a family community. Also check out Plano and Richardson, those are a bit more expensive, but they border 75 which also leads right into Dallas as well making the commute a bit better. Trust me I35 E between Denton and Dallas gets real congested. I used to live in Lewisville myself. Good luck!

Thanks for the info & speedy reply )

I've been looking in many areas, for many weeks, deep heavy sigh.
I'm a single, professional female, so I don't really mind college grads, or
singles at all

not really into apartment complexes though.
Been more looking for private house rentals,
Really like this house.

Did it often take more than 45 minutes for your morning drive?
Are there absolutely no alternate backroads ?

No problem. I actually didnt commute to Dallas from Lewisville when I lived there. I worked in Lewisville. I have been that route though several times both at bad traffic times and normal traffic times. They have done construction though which has eased it a bit. From the sounds of it, being the single female, Lewisville or Carrollton sounds good. Hell you might check out Addison as well. Thats a real singles happening kind of town. LOTS to do there, tons of nightlife and nice apartments as well. Its a very upscale singles town. I go there a lot on the weekends. Lots of cute females.
