A rock cracked my SUV windshield recently. I have $1000 deductible even on comprehensive items. Infiniti QX56 has rain sensing as well as lane departure camera integrated into the windshield. OEM is the only option that works. Quote is $1200 buying the windshield from an Infiniti dealer. Another company stated they had a wholesale source for the windshield but they did not call me back as promised with their quote. Is a wholesale option real for OEM equipment? Any one have experience to guide me? If you have a good source to offer PM me, although I feel the two options I have are good just wondering why no call back on the wholesale option unless they really could not get OEM other than from a dealer.

You might double check with you insurance. I have a 1,000 deductible as well however their is a separate "glass" deductible of $100. It's worth double checking.

Check with your insurance.

Texas could well be an exception, but a good number of states require insurance companies to repair or replace damaged windshields immediately, without a deductable and without penalty on your policy.

Not in Texas.

I was in the auto glass business for 18 years and if it is an OEM only windshield with special attachments / features you may not have a choice.

Contact a good AG replacement company (hint not Safelight) and discuss your options.

Thanks, dm me if you have a couple of suggested companies. Can they buy whole sale OEM or do all have to buy thru an Infiniti dealer? Thanks in advance

Johnhw2,

I have used a few of the companies down here. I seem to be a target for flying objects on the tollway. Maybe its a combination of my low vehicle height and following too close now that I think about it . Anyways, the last guy I used was a mobile windshield replacement tech: White Glove Windshields and they did a fine job.

I think most companies work with the insurance companies to get you settled, but I have never had to get an OEM windshield. Its probably worth calling around and getting a few quotes.

What year is your car? RockAuto carries windshields for the QX56, but only for some years. RockAuto and take a look and see if they have what you need.

EDIT: Oops, I see a newbie bumped an old thread.

Pretty sure you got this handled already
