There are several threads in the forum relating to Dallas photos and places of years past. Well, do any of you have photos of some of the places that are no longer a part of Dallas, just a part of Dallas history. It would be interesting to see how many people post and what they post.

Thank you so much for the link... Great conversation piece and I'll definitely use it in relocation packages for my clients.

Thanks again.

This is a great source: Amazon.com: Dallas Rediscovered : A Photographic Chronicle of Urban Expansion 1870-1925: Books: William Lindsey McDonald and you will be facsinated by what once stood in Dallas -- then you will be depressed for a long time...

I have the coffee table book, "Dallas, Then and Now". GREAT book to look at and even the "Now" pics in it are different than TODAY.

I wasn't too happy with this one. The author didn't make any real effort to make sure the "today" shots were as close as possible to the same vantage point as the vintage picture. And many of the recent shots were excessively distorted. I usually like Then and Now books, but this one was sub-standard.

I have to agree as I have several others that are AWESOME!!! One is a VERY nice leather bound book that just beckons for you to pick it up and open it up. The "Dallas: Then and Now" is so-so compared to those. I only bought it as a novelty in order to have SOMETHING especially for my kids to see the way Dallas used to be for their grandparents and great-grandparents. Someone could do a newer "Dallas: Then and Now" with pictures from today and what it looked like 40 years ago. In my 40+ years A LOT has changed.

Lakewooder, you don't happen to have any pics of the airport that used to be at Garland Rd and Northwest Hwy do you?
