Adding a tolled option does two fantastic things:

1) Alleviates traffic on the main lanes...benefiting everyone, including YOU (at no cost to you!)
2) Offers a zero-traffic option for those times that you are late

Whenever I am driving back from Dallas and get stuck in rush hour, I don't hesitate to use the tolled option on the DFW Connector...a dollar and I get to skip a headache of traffic, not to mention a possible fender bender.

If you don't like the tolled option, don't use it.

It does have its benefits, but it would be better if it wasn't tolled. They're basically double-taxing us and it's not going to have that large of an impact on traffic because not many people will take it. I doubt I ever will, except maybe once to see what it's like. All the other roads will still have enormous potholes and bumps. I thought I was going to wreck out on I-35 tonight after hitting two large potholes in a row. When I'm on the two wheeler, they sometimes throw me off the seat. Dallas roads are a joke.

Like the poster above said, don't take the toll lanes. No one is forcing you to pay tolls. You are not getting double taxed, just google who is paying for the construction of these toll lanes. I-35 is also being constructed from 635 all the way up to Denton.

You must be for raising fuel taxes because that is the ONLY other way to pay for construction and maintenance of roads.

I've about decided that I'll probably be dead by the time it's finished. It seems like it's taking forever.

Large projects like this take more time than people think.

Originally, this project was supposed to go from 2011-2016. 2016 is just a year away. Is the project going to finish on time?

It is ahead of schedule. It will be finished towards the end of this year (Aug/Sep timeframe).

If that's what it takes, then yeah. It beats the hell out of getting stuck in traffic due to construction for a road that does me little good and bottoming out my car on bumps in the existing roads. I'd pay an extra 10 or 20 cents per gallon so I can own something nice.
