Hi guys. need some advice. I'm very seriously considering a move from Denver to the Dallas Fort worth area. I am a young adult (28) unmarried professional. i am a paramedic and i know the opportunities are abundant out in this area. I would like to know where the best places to live are for RENT. i am interested in an urban loft like environment with close proximity to nightlife, arts and entertainment, and a populous of age group in 20's and 30's. i would also like it to be fairly affordable. call me crazy to try and combine the two but i think it can be done. How much per month can i get away with in rental costs? where are the best locations for me? is dallas better or is fort worth better? how about transportation to and from these areas. i do own a vehicle but am also interested in public rail transport. Also if there are any paramedics out here where would you suggest i begin my job search? any recommendations on particular companies?

For paramedic jobs, I highly recommend MedStar, which is the EMS for Fort Worth. The HR Director is a good friend, and she says she is always looking for another good paramedic. The hospital I work for, along with most of the others in Fort Worth, has its Magnet status, so we use a lot of paramedics in our ER. You shouldn't have any problem finding a job here!

As for places to live, the only real limitation will be what you can afford on your salary. The South 7th area and downtown are great for young professionals, but they can be on the pricey side... You might consider a roommate.

When you say loft do you mean like LoDo?

Dallas has quite a bit of that south and east of downtown. The cheapest apartments will be south of I-30. Expo Park is right across from a train station and has a couple of converted warehouse buildings. The Cedars has some "loft style" buildings near a train station too. They are newer and slightly more expensive, and it's a larger community. You should be able to find something under $1000 in both.

Default reply to type of housing

Yeah basically, im looking for a nice modernized apt. i want a pool, hot tub amenities and a culture with an age group similar to my own. wasnt sure if that would be better suited in dallas or in fort worth. im going to be taking a 5 day trip or so out here to do some exploring on my own, but was hoping for a good place to start.
thanks again.
