I don't think it is supposed to be like the riverwalk. But anyways there is going to be vote in November about whether or not to have a tollroad in the park area between the levees.

trinityvote.com is one source of information. This website is against the tollroad.

There are many dozens of stories showing one side of the project in the DMN, and many showing a different perspective in the Observer. Here is one that says a lot..:

Dallas - News - Show Me the Lake!

A more recent Observer article…

Dallas - News - Taking the Bait

You hear a lot about Earmarks lately and special projects getting federal monies… that is where the Trinity and Calatrava bridge projects get much funding.

No shopping..this has been referred to as downtown Dallas' Central Park with lakes and recreational areas, etc...all with proposed Calatrava bridges crossing different areas.

It was conceived as a road project and sold as a park and lake. Now that the public has caught on the compromise may lean more towards the park the public was voting for. If you read the history back to the late nineties you will find the plan, financing, technical issues, as well as public backing keeps changing so this will continue to be a tough project to bring to completion.

Oh what a huge bummer. I thought it was going to be like the river walk.
Does Dallas have anything like the river walk already made though??

It was sold to me as a park with lakes, playing fields, trees, picnic areas, biking, hiking... things people would do with their bodies, other than drive a car or other transport. THAT is what I voted for, not this make Ross Perot and Alliance Airport richer.

I have since been biking on the build up along the Trinity River in Fort Worth, which leads me to understand that the Dallas politicians are not capable of providing anything remotely resembling anything the people of Dallas have indicated as a preference. Therein, nothing has changed in Dallas in the last 50 years other than the lying set of lips.

Fortunately, this time, the voters are going to correct the politicians ill conceived perception.
