Texas Longhorns: Football, Basketball, Baseball and more | Statesman.com

Quote:
The cable channel, which launches Friday, has been picked up by Verizon FiOS. While FiOS service is available in North Texas, Central Texans are out of luck.

Longhorn Network will join Verizon’s lineup Sept. 1, just in time for the Sept. 3 Rice vs. Texas game that will air exclusively on LHN.
Looks like Sept 03, the metro will be tilting towards north DFW.

They left out one important piece. FIOS is available to SOME households in North Texas, as they've decided that the Northeast is a better place to build out their network, and the rest of North and Central Texas are stuck with AT&T, TWC, or other slow carriers...

This is the second thing I've found I hate about Texas (although not really under Texas' control)...

I assure you Verizon Fios would LOVE to service those areas....it's the other companies you should be mad at where they throw a tanturm if too many providers are offered in one area.

From what I've heard, it will be on Uverse and Time Warner by the time of the Rice game, but final details are still being ironed out.

If you have at least the U200 package on Uverse, you should be able to pick up the channel. Time Warner might charge you an extra $3 a month for it.

Although I don't use FIOS for TV, FIOS service was why we moved to Wylie and in fact never considered anywhere that didn't have FIOS when we moved to DFW metroplex. I guess those clamoring now for Longhorn Network can maybe understand why it isn't so crazy to make FIOS a priority in a house hunt...

Thanks for the info. I requested UVerse to get it. They are pretty good about getting channels.
