Does anyone know a good special education preschool near Twin Creeks in Allen or Castle Hills in Lewisville? Are there good public or private preschools that specialize in early childhood special education? Looking for a preschool that has a structured curriculum with language pathologists, social workers, psychologists, occupational therapists, school nurses, and physical therapists.

Thanks!

I don't know of any special needs preschools in the Dallas area that have all of that.

There are some schools for kids with learning disabilities that start at age 3. These schools don't have social workers or physical therapists, but for extra fees you can get on-site OT and speech and there is a nurse like any other school would have.
Here's the largest one. It's in Dallas. SHELTON SCHOOL & EVALUATION CENTER

There is this school in Dallas that serves kids with mental disabilities, like Down Syndrome, but the youngest they take is age 8: Notre Dame School

The public schools offer preschool for special needs - usually a half day program - but I don't know about them having social workers, psychologists and physical therapy. Most don't even have OT. It's just speech and teachers certified to teach special ed (you hope).

The Rise School in North Dallas is phenomenal- caters to down kids, but also to other special Ed needs and "normal" kids (usually siblings) as well. They take kids as young as 1 year or so. It is very hard to get into due to very small classroom size and the amount of specialists involved in the classroom, but definitely worth a look.

Oh, yeah, and there is also the Callier Center for kids with hearing issues. It's a preschool.

you need to check with your school district--
some early schooling for children with disabilities is covered by the ISD--to help the child become ready for school--

Seems like there are good private preschool options, but they are pricey and may be difficult to get into. Does Allen ISD or Lewisville ISD have early childhood special education programs available for preschoolers? Our three year old is not disabled, but has been identified as needing help with fine motor skills, behavior, and speech. We are considering moving to Castle Hills or Twin Creeks, but need to find a proper preschool for our child. Thanks for all the help. I really appreciate all the great advice.

Here's a private school that's a bit cheaper - Oak Hill Oak Hill Academy - Dallas, Texas (TX) - private school for children with a specific learning difference - and I know parents who had their kids there at age 3 and one of the issues was behavior (actual two of the kids had bi-polar disorder). They were very happy with it and the kids had no behavior issues at the school.

I would keep the cost of private school in mind if you have a kiddo with issues. Buy a smaller house to free up tuition money. The public schools in Texas just aren't very good with special education especially if one of the issues is behavior (either primary or secondary to other issues) or fine motor skills as occupational therapy isn't really available in all districts.

Also you might have trouble accessing the public special needs preschool if there are no official dx's or the dx's are not severe enough. Or you may only qualify for speech which would mean 30 minutes a week and that's it. No actual preschool.

Keller has the Early learning center for special needs kids Pre-K through K as well as Pre-K for financial needs. (Not that you want to move way out there... I am NOT suggesting that)BUT... They made be a good resource to call and find out what other Public schools offer such a school. Early Learning Center It just opened this year, and I know they toured other districts etc... to see what was working and how to implement this type of school etc...
Before it opened the classes were at the elememtary schools based on need etc...

Good luck
