Start reading D Magazine's "Side Dish" blog for restaurant leads & tips. They will include driving.

Hope you love your home because the Dallas suburbs are mostly chain restaurants and strip malls.

Lewisville is certainly chain-ville. You'll have to drive, but it's worth it.

May sound odd because they don't have a long list of steaks to choose from, but in terms of quality, I really like the steaks at Love & War in Texas (in Grapevine or Plano). What also makes this restaurant a good choice is that when you are not dining alone and with people who don't like steak, they have a good variety of items from steaks to tex-mex and other stuff in between.

For a burger dive you have to head to Dallas to Keller's or The Dairyette. These places are OOOOOLD! Of course there is Twisted Root, Wingfields.

In Far North Dallas right off the tollway on Frankford is Bene Bene. Small locally owned place w/ a great wine list.

In Addison try Kenny's Woodfire Grill. YUM!!! Craving this one now.

Japon in Far North Dallas/Plano on Preston is pretty good for sushi and hibachi. Avocado for sushi is really good and inexpensive. They have two locations, Garland and Frisco.

The Upper Crust in downtown Plano for pizza. Kelly's Eastside also in downtown Plano is really good (burgers, sandwiches, salads, bbq - the smoker is out back, etc)

Matt's in Lakewood for tex-mex. Javier's for some very high end gourmet mexican food (don't go looking for enchilada's or fajita's on the menu here, they don't have them).

La Duni. They have several locations now and getting ready to open one in the new shopping center in Allen.

Cindy's NY Deli is good. Love their German pancakes. YUM!

Hard Eight BBQ in Coppell is very good. For hole in the wall BBQ and one that was rated in the top for the state there is Meshack's in Garland. No place to sit down as you just walk up to the window and order.

Luna de Noche for tex-mex, several locations.

Barbec's for breakfast. Beer biscuits. yum.

Get yourself a copy of D Magazine and Texas Monthly. ESPECIALLY the ones that are "The Best ______". D Magazine recently had the Best Breakfasts in Dallas. In the back of both of these magazines there are listings for restaurants. Texas Monthly will have all of the cities in Texas and several reviews. D Magazine will have a larger selection and broken down into the type of food. Most are NOT chains.

Steak places:

Kenny's in Addison has steak and very good too.

For chain and pretty good steaks that are not expensive I like Salt Grass and Texas Roadhouse. Texas Roadhouse does their own butchering and they have great cuts. I'm a filet girl but their sirloin's are cut like a filet.

More expensive and good:
Silver Fox
Bob's
Pappas
Al Biernat's
Perry's

Best pizza I know is a little family-run hole in the wall joint in Richardson - Pizza Villa.

Not really, you are all over the place. Unless that is a theme.

I'm gonna vouch for TX Roadhouse. Another one of my favorite places for steak. Sure enough their sirloin's are cut like a filet, but as implied, their own butchering means you can order any size of any steak you want. Many times I have gone there and gotten a 16oz Filet Mignon. That particular steak and size runs about $33, which is a deal considering it's good filet mignon AND for the quantity you get.
