We are planning on moving to Dallas and want to buy a home near parks,
running areas or exercise friendly neighborhood. Any suggestions would help. We liked the Southlake/Grapevine area. Also what about White Rock Lake Park area??
Thanks

I live about a 10 minute jog from White Rock lake and it is great to be able to run by the water in Dallas. There are other areas that have water, but the running trail around White Rock is the best in the area in my opinion.

Thumbs up Katy Trail

The Katy Trail is where many downtowners and uptowners in Dallas go to run and exercise. It's almost 4 miles in length and runs from near SMU down to Victory Park near the American Airlines Center. Here's a map of the trail.

And the Katy Trail is about to connect to the East Dallas Veloway. (around the lake). Plus around White Rock is 15 miles of biking and jogging paths.

Default Grapevine Trails

My partner and I lived in Grapevine for a year and truly enjoyed all the running and bike trails available around Lake Grapevine.

Info available at:

In addition, and regardless of where you choose to live in the metroplex, you can look for other people's running paths using one of my favorite websites:

White Rock Lake is totally awesome for running. I don't think it can get any better in DFW. Additional plus: Homes near the lake are available for budgets starting at 100k and go up to Million+.

Katy Trail is cool, too. Especially if you want to be among a young, well-off crowd.
