I was hoping I could get some opinions of the reputation, livability, quality of life in North Garland for a kid and single mom. Is it relatively safe, nice, or great to grow up in?

Thanks for any input

I am just west of North Garland in East Richardson, so a lot of my shopping etc is in North G. The new area near the 190 is pretty nice and quiet. If you are west of Shiloh (I think) you will be in RIchardson schools, and East of Shiloh, Garland schools. Specifically, Garland: Naaman Smith and Richardson-Berkner. Both are good to great. The area is very culturally diverse which is why I live there also, so depends on what you're looking for on that subject. If you get down Garland Rd closer to LBJ, it can get a little sketchy. Since the area around 190 is fairly new, you would also be looking at newer construction/ lower maintenance homes which may be important to you as a single mom.
Good luck and welcome!

I live in Rowlett, right next to North Garland area. My daughter is in the GISD. It's a great area to raise a child in. No complaints from me
