The World Naked Bike Ride is a global event in which cyclists protest against oil dependency and car culture. It is a celebration of the bicycle and also a celebration of the power and individuality of the human body that occurs across cities around the world.

If you want to celebrate the human body why not celebrate what human bodies have created. People found a way to get oil out of the dirt and make something with it. People, real human bodies, found a way to build a contraption that would transport us from point A to point B. Human bodies have created so many amazing things including the bicycle. I am so happy that we the people of this planet didn't stop with the bicycle and continues creating things.
My grandfather died at the age of 66 when I was 3 1/2 (1939). My grandmother gave his brass pocket watch fob to my father. One day a few weeks later I saw my dad looking at it and I asked if I could see it. It was a little brass horse with a tiny, clear cabachon stone on each side of its flanks. My dad handed it to me and I immediately held it up to the light to look through the little cabachons. "Oooooo, there's a naked lady on a bicycle in here!" I squealed excited. "Whoosh!" My dad grabbed the watch fob from my hands in a heartbeat and held it up to the light to see for himself. My mother had been in the kitchen washing dishes but came running when she heard me mention "naked lady on a bicycle". She said to my dad, "Let me see." He silently handed the watch fob to her and she held it up to the light and took a look. Then just as silently she handed it back to my dad and turned and went back to the kitchen. My dad quietly replaced the watch fob into his jewelry box where he kept a few other trinkets. Neither of them said a word to each other but I have no doubt they discussed this shocking discovery between themselves later in private.
My grandmother was a very proper Victorian lady and had she known her husband of 40 years had been wearing such a smutty piece of porn on his chest all those years, trust me, it would have been grounds for divorce.
I sure wish I had that watch fob today......have no idea whatever happened to it.
I all for protest oil dependency but I am not going to torture my self to do it. Furthermore, this could be kinda gross, and inappropriate, but if they can live with it, I can live around it.
