Problem is you can't have it both ways. Back in the 90's rappers such as Tupac and Smalls were self-proclaimed thugs, glamorizing thug life and selling millions of records to kids and sorry ass adults who identified with the thug culture. Rap and hip-hop embraced this image and now they can't shake it. Oh well, act like a duck, walk like a duck, quack like a duck and you are not a swan, you are still a duck. Same concept applies to thuggary.
Man alive!!!!! He's a thug, she's a thug, you're a thug, I'm a thug, everybody is a thug!
People seem to need to use that word to label people to the point that they act like thugs themselves just trying to demonize everyone.
Is a person who over-uses and misappropriately uses the word thug a thug themselves? I say yes, and there are many all around us.
Just because you have a college degree and post online does not mean you are not a thug. Some are thugs with their fists, others with the pads of their fingertips.
peace out
Just when I think I've encountered the most ridiculous post ever, another one pops up.
Words.....have....meaning. Chuck the speech police act. If we encounter hordes of thugs, we'll use that word dozens of times to describe them.
The word "thug" has been misused at times, sometimes even as a substitute for the n-word or some other pejorative. Remember Richard Sherman's post-game rant after the Seahawks beat the 49ers? Some people took to Twitter and called him a thug, though he did nothing criminal beyond being an idiot. The word itself is not a bad word when used in the correct context.
Justin Bieber's "brown?" The things you learn on these boards.
