This is incredibly sad and scary. Room above the pool? What could have happened?

That's strange...... i wonder if a maid didn't use ammonia products in the room and chlorine gasses mixed with them instead?

Yes, very sad and scary. A woman I know... her husband and
their young son died in a similar way years ago in a small motel. I don't know how many millions she received, but, it was several. It was very cold weather and their were gas heaters in the rooms and the one in their room leaked the carbon monoxide.

I spend over half the year in Boone and when we have visitors, they have stayed at that very motel.

Everyone I know in the area is totally perplexed how this could have happened. We could understand (though not really accept very well) the first deaths, but things seem to have been totally botched as far as followup and communication about the deaths of the elderly couple. To have another death in that very room is - stunning.

I can't get it off my mind, to be honest. Just very very upsetting on so many levels.

There was no law broken as North Carolina doesnt require carbon monoxide detectors in commercial buildings.

That medical examiner is the one that should be the one arrested of not alerting and Best Western fined for improper ventilation of the heater for that pool.

I tried to look up to see how old it was and earliest trip advisor dated 2003.
Im curious why this year it was issue. Did all other people who stay in that room not have the level that created death or had head aches.

This makes me want to travel with carbon monoxide detector.

Way back in the 50's when I was little a cousin I never met, and her new husband (I think they had been married days before)
died in a motel room from carbon monoxide poisoning. I don't think there was a lawsuit or anything done that I'd ever heard about.
It was just considered an unfortunate accident...

That what medical examiner ruled the death of the couple was. At the press release it was stated they didnt have dangerous levels in their system.
