Can anyone report on the current conditions of the National Seashore beaches? We went a few years ago. Beginning of summer: lots of trash. End of summer: cleaned up. It's a long drive for us.

I was at the National Seashore two weekends ago and it was very nice. There was seaweed, which occurs naturally, of course, but very little trash. We were just in front of the pavilion. I don't know if they keep that area extra clean or not.

Went to Padre Island a couple weeks ago. There some sea weed, but must of the beach was very clean and nice. Waves were pretty weak, though.

Thanks for the input. It sounds promising. We could really use some beach time. We also have no problem taking trash bags and cleaning up a stretch of the beach before we settle in.

I was also there a couple of weeks ago. Lots of seaweed, but very little trash. I don't think that you'll have to take any trash bags. Enjoy yourselves!

The wife and kiddies went to the beach behind the Holiday Inn today and didn't have a problem with a trashy beach, sea weed wasn't too bad either.

We were on the beach at the Island House yesterday, the beach was very clean, no trash, very little seaweed. Very pleasant day at Padre Island. We loved it.

Rockport Beach was once voted the overall cleanest without any environmental issues however as there are more men than women in Rockport depending on your perspective it might not have the best scenery.

Was it the Holiday Inn at Emerald Cove? Trying to get info about this particular beach.

Thanks,

Yes it was at Emerald Cove.

To be more current, I went fishing today, from what I could see from the boat, the beaches are still pretty clean except for the usual sea weed. Offshore sea weed isn't too bad, I spent very little time cleaning weeds out of the motor cooling intake,,, other than that fishing sux'ed. All we did was take a funny boat ride, run here and stop,,, run there and stop,,, all day long.
