MURFREESBORO — Cookeville is officially on the state sports map. The Tennessee Secondary School Athletics Association announced on Wednesday that Cookeville will host the 2009 and the 2010 high school football state championships.

This is great news for Cookeville and for the entire Upper Cumberland area! It's likely that hotels and restaurants in neighboring towns such as Crossville and Sparta will benefit from this, too.

I think the state high school championship games should rotate among Tennessee's regions. But for now, I'm tickled that Tennessee Tech and Cookeville will host the state football championships for the next couple of years!

Here are some pics of Tucker Stadium at Tech which will host the games (it's a lot cozier than MTSU's Floyd Stadium):

That's awesome!!! Like JMT said, that will benefit the whole region, and Tech is beautiful university with an an awesome stadium. Football fans won't be disappointed.
