We would like to not go over 800 a month. We're still considering job options at this point. We have been looking at the Cookeville area. We don't want to be too far from Nashville. We want to be within 45 minutes of a VA as well since my husband is a veteran. My husband will be continuing his engineering degree, so we though Cookeville may be best.

Putnam County's schools are very, very good. It's also an open school district, meaning you can live anywhere in the county and send your kids to whichever school you want, as long as there's room and you provide the transportation. Some of the more popular elementary schools that fill up quickly are Capshaw, Algood, and Northeast. The county does a good job at keeping up with growth so that there are no portable classrooms; in the last few years new middle and elementary schools have been built in Cookeville, Algood, and Baxter to keep up with growth and technology, and Monterey has two brand new buildings for its schools. Avery Trace Middle School in Cookeville is about to become an
International Baccalaureate school, meaning the entire school will follow the very demanding IB program. Cookeville HS is one of a small handful of high schools in the state that offer the IB program. Tennessee Tech University in Cookeville has a large STEM center that's used by the public schools.
