Looking at an apartment on Courtland Ave just a little way in from Fairfield Ave. Is this a safe part of Blackrock?

So there wouldn't be a problem if I or my wife were walking the dog early in the am or after work? (Especially in the winter when it's dark.) Love the whole vibe of the area. Reminds me a lot of Brooklyn. Also is the beach at St' Mary's for Bridgeport or Fairfield residents. Noticed the signs saying cars must have stickers? Thanks in advance for the responses.

Just moved out of that area to be closer to Hartford. Nice area. Had no problems at all. I would see moms pushing baby carriages early in the morning.

Courtland Ave. is a great area of Bridgeport. The people that live in Black Rock LOVE living there and have their own little community. The Black Rock Art Walk occurs monthly during the warm months and it is well attended. (index) I am not sure if it is happening this year but I would expect it to. If you can make it out to some of the events, it would be a good way to meet people living in the area and to meet the shopowners. There is very little crime in the area and St. Mary's is gorgeous before jellyfish season arrives--then you can expect the Sound to look like a horror movie for a few weeks.
