I am 28 and have lived in the granby area for almost three years and have an unusual work schedule. I work 7 nights in a row and get 7 off. I don't have any family in the area and i work alone for the most part so i still have not met many people up here. I am trying to find out if there are any adult league activities for someone to join. Would be pretty much up to try anything, flag football, volleyball, dodgeball, etc...
I am also open to hear about other activites as well that will help get me out of the house. If anyone has other suggestions that are not sports related, such as book clubs, i would also be interested in hearing about them.
Though i live in granby, i would be willing to travel to surrounding towns, i.e. bloomfield, west hartford, simsbury.
don't know of any off hand, but you might try each of the towns websites? most do a good job these days of listing off activities that you could participate in. I know river front recapture has a crew team and a few other activities that you might be interested in if you are willing to drive a bit further - i think they usually meet at the boat house in hartford.
My friend and her husband live in Granby and she is a member at the YMCA their and has met quite a few people through classes their.
Just a suggestion.
There are several adult baseball and softball teams in the Hartford area. I think they are organized through the local baseball academies like Baseball City in Hartford. Not sure if there is one in the Granby area but you could check and see. Jay
Interesting schedule you have. I recently moved to W. Hartford 3 months ago and have found there are things to do, you just have to look. There was a kickball league i passed up to play soccer. I'd recommend hoping on google and searching from there.
By your member name I assume you're a Steelers fan... There's a great spot to watch (Steeler) games in not too far from you in Windsor Locks, Ad's Restaurant. I've checked out a couple games there, you will definitely meet some fans...
thanks for the advice everybody. Went to ad's pizza once last season and was planning on going again this year. The way the teams schedule fell most i am either at work, or sleeping between shifts for 9 of the first 10 games. Come december when the logistics work out maybe you will see me there :-)
