We're going to be visiting Danbury for a week this spring, and are expecting many meals out at restaurants. Two adults, one 12 year old. My husband is mostly a meat & potatoes guy. Any ideas?

Default Don't get me started...

I lived here almost all of my life and there are tons of restaurants. If you don't mind me asking, what will you be doing here? Here are some of my recommend eateries

-Chuck's Steakhouse on Segar Street
-Rosy Tommorow's on the far end of Mill Plain Road
-Jim Barberees on Padanaram Road
-Two Steps on Ives street
-JB's BBQ on Rt 6, a couple of miles down the road in Brewster NY
-Kabuki Japanesse Steakhouse on Mill Plain Road is the most expensive of the bunch but is to die for.
-Widow Browns Cafe on Federal Road, near Stew Leonard's
-Windmill Dinner, Mill Plain Road is good. I am friends with the sons of the owners and I have never had a bad meal or exprience there.
-There are the usual chain restaurants (Applebees, Chillis, Outback) on Federal and Newtown Road. I strongly recommend that you stay away from Bennigans, which is down the road from my real estate office, because they jut got closed down by the health department because they owe the city about $150,000 in unpaid water and sewer bills

For Italian food, I recommend Bambinos, also in Mill Plain Road just before Rosys. I took my real estate licensing class with the brother and sister-in law of the owner. The pizzas are great and all of the other dishes (salads, chicken parm, etc) are large portions for a reasonable price.

Great! Thank you. I'm glad there's a steakhouse, and some good BBQ for my resident carnivore. We're staying in Danbury to visit family in the area -- some in New Milford, some in Fairfield -- it seemed like a decent central spot.

Many of those restaurants listed, I really, REALLY suggest you get reservations. Weekends they can be off the wall busy.

If you like Italian food check out Sinappi pizza across the street from the airport.
