I think what the poster is referring to is the Halal Meat and International Foods at 2200 Madison Ave, near Merritt St. I haven't been there but I work with many folks who are Indian and travel many miles to shop there.

Be prepared to talk to guys that talk like "butcher's!!" maybe it comes with the territory!
It is approx. between the intersections of Merrit and Birmingham..there is a bit of parking space right in front of the store, it is part of a strip mallish type area.

I've tried many many halal type stores but these guys stock the freshest meat from what I've tasted.. they get some from local farmers (chicken).
Also, I think they have a serous clientelle which means they are sold out of favored cuts.. they are better stocked on weekends. Also, it is best if you could describe what type of cut you want - becos they are not familiar with the "american" terms for cuts of meat. Sign language goes a long way here!

Try the IGA in Winsted if your in this part of the state they have an excellent butcher shop.
