Are there all day (9am-3pm) pre-K's in Stratford? Are they only in private schools? Is there a program in CT similar to NYC where the pre-K has a certain number of city funded spots that are essentially free?

We are looking to buy a house in Stratford but probably won't close until at least June, should we apply to schools now? Stratford Academy is our closest school as the crow flies (if we get the house we want), our oldest will be a first grader in September. Should we get on the waiting list now?

I am not sure if the pre-K program in Stratford is all day or half days. You might contact the Board of Education and ask. I would definitely do it as soon as possible. Programs like that usually fill up quickly. Jay

In my experience most Public Pre-K programs are for children who are special needs or behind in some way and need extra help.
I called a program once and they told me it was only for special needs.. Bummer.

But private might be your only choice. Good Luck!
