Coastal states have a longer lag time than interior states. (Takes a tad longer to cool down)

Here's a look at the Average temps for August and September.

Starting September 1st it really starts to drop off.

Todays Average Max temp is still 78.8°. By September 15th it will be 73.1°

By September 6th the Avg Low is under 55°. End of September it will be in the 40s.

@ CAMBIUM: Nothing with you. No worries. Part of it is me being constantly bothered by retailers pushing stuff down our throats 2 months ahead of time, etc. (i.e. Halloween crap already being sold in Lawn & Garden at Lowe's). I've always been like that with the seasons, even as a little kid. I've never shook that little habit of mine.

Anyways...let's try to enjoy this Sunday before the furnace is opened again.

September is the 4th warmest month of the year. Warmer than May. And it often stays humid in September. To me, apart from what the calendar says, September is legitimately a mostly summer. month. The heck with the school systems, Labor Day, or the Meteorological Calendar. Get ready for the complaints, "Oh I went to The Big E but it was so hot!". "Really because I went to the Durham Fair and it was sweltering!".

Nope. Opposite. The pattern has changed to a drier one now. Hot and Dry. Front comes through Wed-Thurs and that's when the rain chance will happen.

No more chances of rain each day like July 15-August 23 was.

NWS Forecast for New Haven next 7 days. Doesn't look bad after Thursday but that can change. Look at the low temp Tuesday night. Yikes!
