I remember we had that arctic cold snap after Christmas last year. Clear and sunny every day!

Our weather always comes with a catch.

15*F here in Bethel @ 5:20am. Not too bad yesterday, don't know what the temps were, but great working weather, cleaned the yard from debris and fired up the firepit, moved some wood into the garage....just a great day

Is there a high pressure system right over us? I'm guessing it's why the snow is staying down into North Carolina and southern Virginia today?

Yup. Expansive High over us. Storm center now over Southern Alabama.

Read through this thread. I posted a lot of maps and explainations why North Carolina and Virginia is getting 6-20" of snow. Posting radar loops too throughout the storm..

BTW - Remember when models had it coming up the coast a few times? They thought this High wouldn't be this strong. Oh well. Cold but No Snow for us.

Those aren't wind chills in northern Maine. Gees.
6° in Bar Harbor at the Maine coast.

Teens north of the CT coast. 20s at the coast. I dropped to 19°F. 2 in a row in the teens. Impressive pattern continues. Pretty much since Mid October we been seeing these wicked cold shots.

Current temps and Radar and if you take note of the snowfall totals down there... We're missing it by like 500 miles. Not even close. lol

BORING pattern but at least its cold!

Soil temp 4" down in my backyard 37.2°. We trended down harder this fall than we rose this spring.

SEASON SNOWFALL TOTAL.

Raleigh now has more snow this season than Bridgeport, Pittsburgh and Boston.

Greensboro has more snow this season than Albany and Hartford.
