It's been a while but here we go .. Our first real measureable snow of the year "could be" a big one.

ALL models have agreed on this since 2 days ago when the Euro caved towards the GFS and Canadian which had shown it last week.

Now we are 4-5 days away so details will start to become clearer. Such as amount, timing, strength, and track.

I will update this thread and focus on our area/state while this thread in the Weather forum will focus outside our area. Sometimes you'll see double posts.

Please post your thoughts and forecasts leading up to it and of course your OBS once we're in it!

I was hoping we'd get through the winter without any measurable snow, but I guess that was too good to be true. I look forward to hearing your updates - your posts are most of the reason I stick around the C-D forum. They're usually more accurate than any other source!

Thanks! Yup, there we (I) were (was) thinking it would "one of those years" without snow. This storm might give some areas half of their season normal in 1 shot.

What the models are printing out is crazy!! And widespread too.

Euro12z today snow total projections. (REMEMBER::: this can change on the very next update!)

GFS12z today snow total projections.

So basically confidence is high on a 6"+ at least and confidence growing for a 12"+

*Right now thinking it starts Friday Afternoon & ends Saturday afternoon

Just incredible amount of liquid..

You ever get those heavy and big rainy days and say "imagine this was snow"? Well...

Euro12z
QPF Amounts: Would be ALL SNOW.

DC: 2.12"
Philly: 1.81"
Islip: 1.75"
Bridgeport: 1.47"
Boston: 1.47"
Hartford: 0.93"
Portland: 0.86"

Multiple 10 to those numbers and that's the snow total that model produces (at 10:1 ratios)

Notice less as you head Northeast because the storm track. Ratios higher as you go north so multiple by 12 for example.

A dedicated storm thread is my bellwether of whether the event is going to be real or not. Way to go, Cam. I do have a flight out of BDL on Sunday morning...would not be heartbroken if it got delayed, but I'm guessing that will be after the main event?

Do we have some idea when it's supposed to start? I am anticipating coming back from my Boston office on Friday on the 4 PM train-- Getting back to Old Saybrook about 6. Am I in trouble?

interesting, weather.com still has 3-5 inches for both East Lyme (current home) and Avon (previous) for Saturday.
