Halfway point of Meteorological Winter is today(~ish).

Still 6 weeks to go (and often a bit more). As much time as we had behind us, we still have that much time in front of us. Anything can happen.

Friday 22nd "could be" a mess for commuters. I'm already making plans to keep that day off or light.

GFS & Canadian showing snow
Euro wants to remind us it's Spring soon

It's January for crying out loud, we aren't supposed to figure out what PType it is. Should be snow. Period. lol

But I guess because where the heaviest precip is means where the warm/cold border is so that always "makes it close". But sometimes cold air is around and storms just feed Atlantic moisture into it. Not this yr it seems

Can't it ever be easy?

Seeing 22nd to 23rd morning just a mix of sleet and rain. Maybe will be like this storm this weekend that changed to rain. Rain I'd good.

No I see that too but you have to understand alot is uncertain. All we know is there is potential with that one. You have to realize accuweather has become a good barometer for long term temps and storm identification. As for tracks and strength? Na. Not a week out.

Its getting close. Long term wants to go above normal in February. Could be a record year but too early to call.

on that note... if January ends above normal or even slightly below, this winter will officially be above normal... February would have to be as extreme as the last year to get below normal for DJF avg
