What do you think CT's future is? Will state population grow at high numbers. Will unemployment levels reach record lows? What will the cities be like? What will the largest cities be by 2030? How will traffic be?

Interesting question. I personally have no clue, but I hope the NYC-Boston corridor becomes more like the Philly-NYC corridor in terms of public transit.

I can see the Hartford Metro growing, once more people realize how good of a deal it is. Relatively-affordable real estate prices (especially for the Bos-Wash corridor), a good economy, proximity to literally everything, and reasonable levels of congestion.

FFC, however, is a different story. Unless the infrastructure undergoes a DRASTIC improvement, people will leave by the droves.

Might want to check your facts Pulp. FFC is the states fastest growing region.

And high real estate prices show that it's a desirable area where people want to live. Hartford's got nice areas near it but not even close to the desirability of FFC.

New Haven will be the most populated city, followed by Bridgeport and Stamford. Hartford will only see modest growth. FFC will hit 1 million and NHC 950k.

There are projection studies by UCONN that support these estimates.

At the moment, sure. I'm well aware of the expansion undergone in Stamford.

However, you can only pack people in like sardines for so long. The current infrastructure in FFC does not even begin to support Stamford's growth.

I-95 is now at the point of being congested literally every waking hour between NY and Norwalk. The Parkway will never be more than 4 lanes because of the ridiculous 'historic' label placed on it (c'mon it's a freaking highway!) Metro North is a complete joke. Who wants to live in a region where mobility is that challenging?
I realize FFC is hardly the only metro area with transportation issues. However, other regions GET THINGS DONE. Look at all the managed-lane projects in Northern Virginia, for example.

I can see the growth in NH. Downtown is much improved, as is their infrastructure after the Q-bridge project is complete.

I don't think that CT future will be very good but you never know. The cities will probably get even worse than they are. The population of the state will probably keep growing but not by much. I think the most populous city will be Bridgeport with new haven a close second. Hopefully, the whole country will find a way to bring traffic down.

Unless a magic fairy waves a wand that cuts property taxes in Westchester in half, it aint happening.
