A new grad wanting solid career growth will likely be in multiple states his first few jobs (at any large corp(s)), so it is not the time to buy. He/she with many corps may be expected to do a Europe based role for a while. Not uncommon. So even if his/her salary afforded the opportunity, buying would not be wise.

It's expected now, no question. That generation is now more mobile than ever before in history. I referred someone in Europe to semiconductor chip maker guy, they loved her, made a generous offer but she decided to go with Big Pharma in another European country. They're coming from CT, other states and Europe.
That being said, there's nothing wrong with going CT cradle to grave.

New grads in STEM can make 200k starting at FAANG, and that isn’t even including stock compensation. They can make 130K at startups or smaller companies in NY and MA. 75k is a joke.

Fortunately Amazon has been committed to growing in CT at least bringing some FAANG jobs in.

Those are low-paying warehouse jobs. Geez guys, it’s time for a reality check.

No, what’s a joke is thinking that everyone wants to work for FAANG or live where they have facilities. There is a VERY big world out there and it still goes well beyond a few high tech companies. Connecticut companies pay very well. Just look at Electric Boat, Pratt, Sikorsky or a host of others here. They pay very well and are attracting top talent to our state.

As has been discussed here MANY times already, CTDOL studies show that those Amazon jobs that you seem to be mocking, are making up for lost retail jobs in our state. As you should know, the number of brick and mortar retail jobs is falling everywhere, losing out to online retailing. Connecticut is fortunately located so that it could well serve the regional online logistic needs of many companies. That’s why we have seen so many logistic/warehousing facilities built here. They may not be six figure FAANG jobs but they certainly fill an important purpose. Jay

Yes, but apparently it is you and Johnho771 who needs it. Jay

Here we go again with the FAANG narrative. It's a fan fallback favorite.
CT is top 5 in the nation in median and disposable income and education. That is a fact that cannot be disputed. Many are raking in 100-200+ across a wide variety of professions and industries.

If you say so. I'd like to see the state lift itself out of mediocrity - but if others are fine with it, so be it. There is so much squandered potential with our location between NY and Boston, we should not be ranking 25th when our immediate neighbors are the top 3. Yet here we are. If things don't change I will just move like many others will.

Cradle to grave is a thing of the past, if one desires a meaningful career, and is just starting out. Many corps rotate top hire prospects every year or two, to other divisions, departments, coast to coast.

So, while cradle to grave is fine no matter what state one prefers; it does often come with a career price. The days of climbing ladders from within one location 4 decades are essentially gone.
