I recently enrolled in University of New Haven but I'm seeing as how pricey everything has come to be and also realized ill be in serious debt after college . So I went through my accepted college mail and seen i got a lot of scholarships from university of Bridgeport and I'm currently thinking about switching. Anyone has any advice. I see a lot of bad writings about Bridgeport and it being named fourth most dangerous. Would I have to worry about that on the college campus? How is the area around UB and are there things to do?

The area isn't bad. Not perfect, not zero crime, but not the worst part of Bridgeport either and you don't really hear about UofB students being victims of violent crime or anything. I wouldn't hesitate, I know a few graduates from there that have been successful. If it's going to save you a ton of money and you can keep your preferred major, I don't see the downside.

UB isnt in the best area. Picture some of the areas behind UNH and make them more active and worse.

Just bring your bicycle inside and dont drive a Honda lol.

The beach next to UB is really nice though. I used to be down there a lot when I was younger to go to the skate park. Afterward we would jump in the water.... Surprisingly pleasant beach. Honestly, I kind of forgot I was even in Bridgeport.

During the day Im sure its reasonable. Night comes around and well, you know.

Why dont you take a drive by and see for yourself?

I myslef would enroll in UB.

Well when it comes to not being owned by the Moon Unification Church, UNH wins hands down. Neither school is among the best in the state, but I think UNH is more credible and provides a better experience.

Do not walk at night there been several indents with UB students that been robbed or carjacked, stay away from further up park ave at evening hours too The Campus is safe but further up the street is a different story. Nothing much to do in Bridgeport you got Webster Bank Arena, couple bars&restaurants downtown, black rock with few bars, a zoo. You got a train station downtown about 1.5 miles from UB there a city bus you can take by the train station u can get off take Metro North to NYC for ton of attractions and things to do about 80 mins train drive

I would disagree.

I would agree.

I'll be politically incorrect for the 2nd day in a row. If you're caucasian, UB is definitely not the school and neighborhood for you to be hanging out at.

I attended U of Bridgeport from 1980-82. it had a bad reputation back then probably worse then now. a friend of mine was actually mugged sitting at the counter at Famous Pizza on Park Avenue. I used to feel uneasy walking to Pop's grocery store on Lafayette Ave near University Avenue.
